“The information and the hands-on experience that you get with the IoT is extremely crucial,” says Level 6 Medical Biology student Samy Chocron.
Samy came to Burnley College University Courses from an access course at Manchester College. He was initially attracted to the quality and quantity of the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology equipment students use in the lab.
“I did look around and found a lot of options before deciding on Burnley College,” he says. “Other courses were covering rather broad subjects, the IoT is more niche.”
IoT BCUC Medical Biology lecturers are often specialists in their area. “Not only that, the people here are already in industry, so there is a network here,” says Samy. “We have people working in the NHS, and that access to potential jobs, and the information available to us, is crucial.”
Samy praised the student to teacher ratio as “fantastic”.
As part of his thesis, he is looking at different types of disinfectants and how they work on different bacteria. Sami hopes to progress into embryology with the support of the IoT.
